Why I Do This Work

I’ve spent my career working with people who carry enormous responsibility. Professionals whose precision, judgment, and composure are required every single day. What I found again and again is that the same drive that makes someone exceptional at their work can also make it incredibly hard to step back, ask for help, or even recognize when they’re running on empty.

Dentists, in particular, live this tension. That’s why I built my practice around serving you.

My Background

I earned my Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University and my PhD in Psychology from Ohio University, where I first discovered my passion for working with high-performing professionals in demanding environments. I went on to complete an additional year of postdoctoral training at the Oklahoma University Health Science Consortium before building clinical experience at Intermountain Healthcare and Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital.

That path led me to found Spiel Coaching – a practice dedicated to helping dental professionals lead with clarity, recover their energy, and reconnect with the work they trained so hard to do.

Outside the Office

I grew up in several states across the US before attending college in Utah, leaving for graduate and post graduate work in Ohio and Oklahoma, and then landing back in Utah. I met my wife Savannah in college and together we are raising four kids. When I’m not working, you’ll find me cheering for my kids at their various concerts and activities, coaching with our middle and high school mountain biking teams, hiking, playing pickleball, laughing with friends, and planning adventurous family vacations.

I think a full life outside of work makes me a better coach. I also think it’s something more of my clients deserve for themselves.
